Donation to the orphan children in Bolivia

Between December 20 and December 31, 2012, N.nu did a christmas campaign. Besides a substantial discount N.nu also promised that 10% of the earnings would go directly to the orphans in Bolivia.

The campaign went very well and we collected $1,438 USD to the children. It might not sound like much, but remember that the salary of a qualified teacher in Bolivia is 285 USD per month and that the support from the state to the orphanages is only equivalent to about $30 USD per month, per child. Children's homes are totally dependent on donations to be able to function.

My wife and I currently live in Bolivia bought gifts and gave them to the nearest two orphanages January 6:

  • Industrial machinery for baking bread. (boys bakes and sells bread)
  • 3 bikes for girls
  • Notebooks, various pens, paper, eraser and pencil sharpener to all 76 children
  • 7 footballs, 6 volleyballs and 8 basketballs.
  • Games: Monopoly, puzzles, playing cards and chess.

When we went into the first orphanage and saw all the orphaned children holding hands and singing about Jesus both my wife and I were very moved. Here are few pictures:

Approximately $150 USD will be saved for use at a later date.

We will have more promotions and also arrange so that people can donate money (100%) to the vulnerable children and adults in Bolivia. We will also arrange so companies can get a valid deductible invoice.
